5. LA TERMINACIÓN “ED”
Además de la terminación “ing”, también tenemos la terminación “ed”. Ésta terminación añadida a las palabras, indica LA ACCIÓN YA EFECTUADA.
Estudie de memoria las palabras inglesas acontinuación, fíjese en la alteración que sufren las palabras cuando se les agrega la terminación “ed”.
Name (néim) – nombre
Named (néimEd) – nombrado
Note (nóUt) – nota
Noted (nóUted) – notado
Offer (ófer) – oferta
Offered (ófeREd) – ofrecido
Place (pleis) – lugar
Placed (pléisEd) – colocado
Look (lúk) – mirada
Looked (lúkEd) – mirado
Nota: La pronunciación de“ed” puede variar, hay tres posibilidades. De modo que hay que poner atención a las conversaciones en inglés y aprender exactamente qué pronunciación le dan a “ed” en cada caso.
1. A veces suena sólo como una letra “d”.
2. Otras veces como la sílaba “ed” sonaría en español.
3. Y por último, a veces puede sonar como una letra “T”. Ejemplo de éste tercer caso son:
touch (touch) – tocar, toque
touched (toucht) - tocado
laugh (láaf) – risa
laughed (láafEt) – reído
Polish (póliSH) – lustre
Polished (póliSHEd) – lustrado
Brush (bráSH) – escobilla/cepillo
