4. PLURAL DE LOS SUBSTANTIVOS TERMINADOS EN “Y”
En la lección 3 hemos estudiado el plural de los substantivos, los cuales, como en español, se forman añadiendo simplemente una “s”.
Ahora estudiaremos el plural de los substantivos terminados en “y”.
Los susbtantivos terminados en “y” forman su plural sustituyendo la letra “y” final por la terminación “ies”.
Ejemplos:
Body – cuerpo
Bodies – cuerpos
Army – ejército
Armies – ejércitos
Pero cuando la letra anterior a la y es vocal, se sigue la regla general de añadir una letra “s”.
Ejemplos:
Day – día
Days – días
Boy – muchacho
Boys – muchachos
Pregunta: ¿cómo se forma generalmente el plural de los sustantivos terminados en “y”?
Respuesta: Cambiando la “y” por “ies”
Pregunta: Cuando la letra anterior a la “y” es VOCAL, ¿cómo se procede para formar el pasado?
Respuesta: En esos casos se añade simplemente una “s”.
Estudie de memoria las palabras que siguen:
Ray – rayo
Rays – rayos
Tray – bandeja
Trays – bandejas
Story – cuento
Stories – cuentos
Monkey – mono
Monkeys – monos
Copy – copia
Copies – copias
