Comprender el artículo defnido inglés “the” es muy sencillo. “The” equivale a TODAS estas palabras en español: el, la, los, las, lo.
The pencil – el lápiz
The house – la casa
The apples – las manzanas
The boys – los muchachos
The se puede combinar con otras palabras como “of” (de), o “to” (a). Ejemplos:
“To the” equivaldría a todas las sigientes combinaciones: a la, al, a los, a las, a lo.
Ej.:
The road to the river – el camino al río
The travel to the city – el viaje a la ciudad
“Of the” igualmente equivaldría a: de la, del, de los, de las, de lo.
Ej.:
The top of the mountain – La cumbre de la montaña
The books of the children – Los libros de los niños
