5. GERUNDIO
El “gerundio” en español es aquella parte del verbo que termina en “ando” ó “iendo” como ya vimos, ejemplos: viniendo, tomando.
Mientras que en español el gerundio puede resultar ser dos diferentes terminaciones, ¡en inglés es solamente una (ing) al final del verbo!
En algunos verbos se debe alterar un poco su raíz antes de añadir “ing”, pero eso no es mayor problema pues algo parecido sucede en español.
Estudie lo siguiente hasta familiarizarse con los gerundios ingleses:

1. to come (tu cám) – venir
coming (cáming) – viniendo
2. to do (tu dúu) – hacer
doing (dúuing) – haciendo
3. giving (guíving) – dando
4. going (góing) – yendo
5. making (méiking) – haciendo
6. saying (séiing) – diciendo
7. seeing (síing) – viendo
8. seeming (síiming) – pareciendo
9. taking (téiking) – tomando
10. getting (guéting) – consiguiendo
11. keeping (kíiping) – manteniendo
12. letting (léting) – dejando
13. putting (púting) – poniendo
14. sending (sénding) – enviando
15. being (biing) – siendo ó estando
16. having (jáving) – teniendo
Estudie éstas frases:
I am sending a letter to your friend – Yo estoy enviando una carta a su amigo
He is taking a rest – El está tomando un descanso
My brother is going to the river – Mi hermano está yendo al río
My sister is putting the bread on the table – Mi hermana está poniendo el pan sobre la mesa
They are coming by train – Ellos están viniendo por tren
